Often have I thought these days of a rant written by another in other days.
A rant writ by someone for whom I'm often confused-
A rant, I admit, for which my opinions were used-
Oh, don't go all sour, Mr. Persimmon, Alpha's my student-twas used with permission.
That rant, which this, assuredly ain't, was with those who with the broadbush do paint.
Those for whom the word witch, when used, causes an itch.
It bites and it screams, it enters their dreams.
You know who you are, you silly few-
You're the ones who think all who say "Witch" mean YOU.
Those stereotype-screaming masses, those most muddled asses-
Seem no longer the problem to be, at least the problem as it seems to me.
For ten years or longer, our voice has grown stronger-
We rational few... we who are not that "YOU."
The stereotypes perpetuated in days past were a false complaint.
The 'types of which I speak most assuredly ain't.
I speak to those who all Wiccans defame, those who I won't mention by name.
You know the ones, they think it funny, to teach that Wiccan equals bunny.
Forget their critiques were made first by those within the Wiccan community-
The very "bunnies" they see as one giant unity.
They apparently have many non-bunnies missed-
Wiccans whose fur glove hides iron fist.
And non-Wiccans, too, of whose scholarship we are jealous- Hutton, most assuredly, and also Ellis.
No, their eyes would assuredly bust if they read "Wicca for the Rest of us"
Or the winners of the awards from these ranting witches-apparently all invisible-
Forget that the first critiques of "Witta" came from Wiccan community "indivisible."
Forget that Ravenwolf, Grimassi and McCoy by WITCHES were first critiqued, my boys!
YES, the stereotype of which I speak is that a Wiccan scholar is a loner freak.
A search on Wicca's history should quickly solve that mystery.
10 Huttons, or moderns to every "ancient!" Did ja see it boys, or did ya faint yet?
To end this I ask for a little work- that you stop speading the stereotypes, jerk!
Yes, some Wiccans are bad, but certainly not all and if you keep claiming otherwise your number we'll call.
To those who can't open their mouth but to defame-
We'll call you crappy fellows, call you by name.
For in all your song and "radical" dance....
Continuing to lie shows only ignorance.
Again, some Wiccans are bad and some who claim to be Wiccan have been had.
By unethical authors, or by "mama" herself.
But each is no more a Wiccan than they are an elf.
We're fighting them everyday, that dark hoard-
We're fighting them though we grow angry and bored.
And if you won't help, not on our side will play, can you at least get out of the godsbedamned way?
